Description
Built by the Tokugawa shogunate as the residence for the retired Emperor Go-Mizunoo. The highlight is the pond strolling garden, laid out by the celebrated landscape master Kobori Enshu. It features two large ponds spanned by the Momiji-bashi (Maple Bridge) and a zigzag plank bridge (yatsuhashi), with pines and cedars enveloping the surroundings. Visits require an advance application.
