Description
Opened in 1903 as the second zoo to be established in Japan. It cares for around 700 kinds of animals, including gorillas, monkeys, and an Indian elephant. In spring, several hundred cherry trees burst into beautiful bloom, drawing many visitors who come to enjoy the blossoms as much as the animals. The zoo retains the atmosphere of an old-fashioned menagerie.
