Description
The museum holds a collection of more than 5,500 works of modern Japanese painting, prints, and sculpture, including "Ohara-me" by Tsuchida Bakusen and "Flowers" by Fukuda Heihachiro. Alongside its permanent collection, it stages special exhibitions. Standing just across from the Kyoto City museum of art — which was designed in the "Japanese taste" to harmonize with its surroundings — this building strikes a strikingly different, distinctly modern note.
