Basic Information
Description
Legend has it that the goddess Tamayori-hime sailed up from the Yodo-gawa river in a yellow boat and came ashore at Kibune, founding the shrine.
Originally, it's also said to have been a deity of mountain forests — Ki-no-ne (tree roots) or Ki-no-mine (tree peaks).
Famous as a god of water. After the capital was moved to Kyoto, it was revered as a deity of flood control and prayers for rain or fair weather.
You can try the mizu-uranai (water fortune telling) here.
The inner shrine has a ryuketsu (dragon cave) and a boat-shaped stone, and the atmosphere there is quite something.
