Description

A Tendai-sect temple that fell into ruin after the Onin War and was revived in 1662 by Imaeda Chikayoshi, a senior retainer of the Kaga domain.
The pond-strolling garden, attributed to Ishikawa Jozan, is best viewed from the study hall — framing the garden between the pillars and lintels like a living painting. In autumn, the maples reflect off the pond's surface.
Just inside the gate, you'll find a collection of stone Buddhist figures unearthed during construction work on Kawaramachi-dori, creating a distinctive atmosphere.
It's off the beaten tourist path, and apart from the autumn foliage season, there are few visitors — making it an ideal spot to just sit quietly and let your mind wander.
