Description
Head temple of the Yamashina school of Shingon Buddhism. Founded by Emperor Daigo around 900 AD, with over a thousand years of history. The study hall and imperial hall date from the Edo period. The garden is a pond-strolling style, and ice was once cut from its waters for the Imperial ice storehouse. The cherry blossoms surrounding the study hall within the grounds are magnificent.
