Description
The temple has a "blood ceiling" — floorboards from Fushimi Castle, stained with the blood of Torii Mototada's retainers when several hundred of them took their own lives in a last stand.
The temple is famous for its 700-year-old five-needle pine and its "framed garden" — a garden designed to be viewed through the pillars and lintels of the building as if looking at a painting. You sit and enjoy it while sipping tea.
