Description

Built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1586. It was once called the Great Buddha Hall and housed an enormous Buddha statue.
The large temple bell on the grounds is famously known for the inscription "Kokka Antai, Kunshin Horaku" (National peace, prosperity of lord and vassal) — the very words Tokugawa Ieyasu used as a pretext to provoke conflict with the Toyotomi clan.
